Departs Brisbane

The Red Centre PLUS, PLUS

Our highest kilometre tour. But for good reason. This is one epic ride. From Brisbane to the coast, to ‘Rocky’, inland to the big red rock in the middle of the outback. And with Broken Hill on the way back too, you’ll see why this ride definitely has it all!

This will be a truly memorable experience. Starting in the city of Brisbane, we head to the Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Gladstone and on to Rockhampton. This is the last we’ll see of the sea, as we head inland for the next 19 days.

Long days in the saddle get you into the rhythm of ‘the spirit of the outback’ as we see the land get flatter the further west we go. We’ll visit the ‘birthplace’ of Qantas, in the Longreach Museum and visit the mining town of Mount Isa on our way to Tennant Creek. Another day of outback riding will get us to Alice Springs. This is a real eye-opening town in the middle of nowhere and well worth a full day of exploring the local pubs with their laconic Australian locals.

After 2 nights in Alice, we’ll head to the very dramatic Kings Canyon. Bring your hiking boots so you can climb to the rim of the canyon and take in a vista so grand it will literally take your breath away (or is it the climb that does that). Next it’s off to the big red rock (Uluru) and Kata Tjuta right in the centre of Australia. Uluru is 9k in circumference, and to walk around it and see the sunrise and set over it, is a sheer delight. You’ll be enthralled by the vastness of the outback, the panoramic views, the colours and the colourful and artistic locals. Other activities include camel tours, brilliant sunrise and sunset tours, Aboriginal talks, a Sounds of Silence dinner, Field of Lights and lots of walking if you feel like it.

Heading back to Brisbane, we’ll visit Coober Pedy with its underground mines and eclectic underground accommodation. Then it's off to Broken Hill, an outback city with so much to see and do we’ll need 2 days to see it all. Mad Max and Pricilla Queen of the Desert were both filmed out here. There’s the Royal Flying Doctors and School of the Air to visit as well as Silverton, Mundi Mundi Plains, the Sculpture Park and the Living Desert. There’s also mining exhibits, Aboriginal artworks as well as many iconic pubs and interesting locals you can have a ‘yarn’ with.
